Welcome to the Shadwell Soundwaves Art Project
Do you live in or near Shadwell?
Do you have memories of coming to, living in or working in the East End?
Would you like the chance to contribute to a colourful new work of art at the centre of the community?
THEN WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
The Shadwell Soundwaves will be a series of six stone benches at the centre of Tarling Heights and Watney Piazza, Toynbee Housing Association’s new flats, shops and park for local people, just next to Watney Market.
Artist David Little will be talking to local people about their memories and experiences of living and working in or near Shadwell. Words and sayings from these conversations will be carved onto the benches, creating a sense of community and shared experience. The artwork will become a positive symbol for the area: the history of the docks and stories of migration, personal journeys and hopes for the future...
